  What if we could bring down the WBTS?

  Just ask yourself if you can bring down another similar religion like the Mormons. The answer, of course, would be no.

  Once a religion passes a critical level of a certain number of members it becomes self perpetuating. Should there be a serious crisis or schism there would be enough leaders to maintain a sect or a surviving remnant of the faithful.

  During the Rutherford purges up to three quarters of the Bible Students (JWs) left and the hard core remained. Some of those splinter groups still remain up to this day. Smaller, milder and quieter.

  Question for people who believe in Evolution

  though school i did religious education and my teacher who was religious ruled out evolution because humans are the only creatures who do not want to die, can anyone who understands evolution explain this?.

  im 99% on to the theory of evolution, this is just the last stumbling block..

  Not quite. Evolution is a process that is not limited to life but includes the whole history of the Universe, animate or inanimate. Life is simply a molecule that had the ability to reproduce itself. Before it acquired such abilities it had undergone intensive transformations (evolution) from Hydrogen/Helium after the Big Bang to stars to higher elements made within the stars to molecules in the planets that surrounded those stars to ever more complex assemblies of molecules that led up to the first self reproducing molecule.

  As far as what happened 'before' it is beginning to be the consensus amongst astrophysicists that there is a universe of universes known as the Multiverse. Many of those universes including ours may have the ability to spawn other universes.

  "Humans are the only creatures who do not want to die..."

  I think your teacher was referring to the fact that humans seem to be the only creatures that are aware that they will someday die whereas animals only react to present threats. If so then the reason for that is that we seem to be the only animal who, due to the evolution of our brain, has a concept of the future and our place in it.

  I'm confused as to your first two citations and the year they are from.

  My understanding, throughout the 1970s, was that the "great tribulation" would unfold in the following manner:

  1. The United Nations would announce that there was worldwide "peace and security".
  2. Right after that the UN would lead an attack upon "Babylon the Great" (All religions but the Jehovah's Witnesses).
  3. After the destruction of all religions the UN would notice the Jehovah's Witnesses as the last religion left standing and would direct its attention towards them.
  4. When it seems that the Witnesses are about to be wiped out Jesus and company will come down and destroy the nations of the Earth in the battle of Armageddon.

  i'm about half-way through the novel "watch how we walk," written in 2013 by a born-in, jennifer lovegrove.. absolutely worthwhile read.. does this paragraph sum up jw-land?.

  "i was paranoid again, like i had been back home, as though someone was scrutinizing and judging me.

  although i was alone, it reminded me of being at the kingdom hall.

  It was around one per year back in my time. There are a couple of Watchtowers that indicated a 1% disfelowshipping rate per year. It was mostly the young that would get it for obvious reasons.

  when i posted why did god permit scriptures to be corrupted?

  then i thought, if there is an organization that believes all scriptures are corrupted (which obviously makes it enemy of all religions), that organization is not ordinary, but gutsy, lionhearted, and worthy of close examination!

  I don't see why they would eliminate the Circuit Overseer position since it's the main way in which headquarters cracks its whip at the elders to keep them in line. Any large hierarchical organization needs a middle management.

  By the way, was there ever such a thing as Branch Overseer or Zone Overseer?
